JrnBeatz reigns Cypher 2012
IT WAS a proud moment for JrnBeatz, the Journalism Society’s official dance crew, as they emerged champion in “Cypher HD 2012,” an inter-major dance competition among Faculty of Arts and Letters (Artlets) students, held at the Medicine Auditorium last February 6.
The all-girl crew danced a “Mission Impossible III” inspired theme, garnering an average score of 93 percent. Last year’s champion, Critical of the Political Science Forum, fell short of this year’s top spot as their “Pirates of the Caribbean” routine landed second place.
Meanwhile, Lex Baile of the Legal Management Society bagged the third spot with their “Charlie’s Angels” inspired number.
According to JrnBeatz team captain Chrisee dela Paz, the tough training they had in preparation for the competition paid off as they emerged victorious in this year’s Cypher.
“[In] every training, we do drills and warm-ups to condition our bodies,” Dela Paz said. “As one of the pioneer [members], [winning first place] is very fulfilling, most especially as it happened in my senior year.”
The Artlets Dance Synergy (ABDS), who recently finished second in Cheermania 2012, an inter-collegiate cheer dance competition among the University’s faculties and colleges, performed their winning routine as well as their “Quantum of Solace” inspired dance in between the performances of those who participated.
Cypher is an annual cheer dance competition held as part of the college week celebration of Artlets. F
