Bes Soc supports mental institution in Prime BLP
THE BEHAVIORAL Science Society (Bes Soc) participated in Prime 2012: The Better Life Project (BLP), an inter-university gathering of psychology students from the Ateneo De Manila University (Ateneo Psyche), De La Salle University (Samahan ng mga Sikolohiya), and University of the Philippines-Manila (Behavioral Studies Society), held last January 13 at the Amber Ultra Lounge, The Fort.

It was a night of socialization conducted for the purpose of charity and awareness to various mental institutions in the country.

“The primary aim of the event is to help chosen mental institutions by providing funds (proceeds of the event) and to expose students studying Psychology or Behavioral Science on the current situation of the said institutions,” Bes Soc President Patrick Remo said.

The AFP Psychiatric Department is the beneficiary institution of the Bes Soc.

“We are born not for ourselves alone but because we are responsible in creating a mutually beneficial environment,” Remo said.

In line with the event was the Search for Mr. and Ms. Prime 2012 wherein Bes junior Joanne Bernardo and sophomore Jeinnil Ruiz represented the University.

Bernardo was crowned Ms. BLP along with Jethro Perez from UP-Manila as Mr. BLP.

“Since Better Life Project is a fund raising event, I plan to continue such advocacies,” Bernardo said. “I believe that it is a good way of sharing what we have and of promoting awareness especially to the Thomasian community.”
